Overview

BUBBLE is a new, innovative and modern CHILDRENS FURNITURE COMPANY that launched in Cape Town on 22 June. Our exciting, premium modern range caters for newborns up to 13 years old. Every piece of furniture is customizable - where you see colour you can change colour. Choose from a range of stunning, funky colours!

BUBBLE:

By definition; a small spherical body of gas, contained in a liquid. A globule of air, or a globular vacuum, contained in a solid.

In our minds, however, ours is a rather different “bubble”. It is a bubble of safety and serenity, of beauty, of joy and laughter. A bubble of pure magic, imagination and wonder.

This bubble is an unique place. A space in our homes that can be easily protected. A place where each of us parents would wish our children to rest, sleep, wake, grow, play and prosper.

Bubble furniture is designed to bring to life such a space in our homes, in our children’s’ nurseries and bedrooms, which is the very real heart of every parent’s home.

Bubble is Wayne Ballard - THE MANUFACTURER:

Wayne Ballard’s love of making things began in the family garage, where he worked alongside his dad. When he wasn’t making useful things like furniture, he made forts in the garden, played hockey, and grew up with his mates doing all the normal teenage things, like watching McGyver and the A-Team, and being grounded by his mum.

Wayne became an entrepreneur early. After studying Marketing Management at Damelin, his first full-time job in a clothing store persuaded him that he needed to work for himself, so he began to make furniture professionally.

Wayne and his partners set up the “Coastal” group; Coastal Plumbing, Coastal Building and Coastal Kitchens, which Wayne ran for several years before travelling overseas. Returning to Cape Town, he focused again on kitchens, which has seen the business grow steadily, year on year. It’s where the new range of Bubble furniture is being manufactured.

Wayne has been working on a Bubble concept since 2005. In 2007 he got together with designer Sam Peacock, and the world of Bubble was born.

And Bubble is Sam Peacock - THE DESIGNER!

Sam Peacock was born in Guildford in Surrey, England, and grew up in a loving family with the Care Bears, My Little Pony, Mary Poppins, sweets and chocolates and two brothers - which is why her Barbie got to date Action Man and not Ken. From a young age at home, at boarding school and university, Sam always took great pride in her bedrooms, which were all admired for how beautiful and cosy they looked. Interior design came to her naturally, and early.

Sam’s pure artistic ability and inspiration comes from her mum, a highly talented artist, but she chose design over fine art when it came to a career. After graduating from the acclaimed KLC School of Design in London, Sam worked at several top Interior Design firms in the city. On a trip to SA she fell in love with Cape Town, and relocated in 2006. Within months she opened Peacock I Design, which quickly attracted a range of top end residential, business, retail and guest house clients.

In 2007 Sam teamed up with Wayne Ballard and began to plan and design the Bubble range for kids. The rest, as they say, will be history
