Overview
I have been a registered therapist for several years, and my passion lies in facilitating the healing process and helping others to feel better about themselves. Over the years I have taken special interest in injury prevention offering both pre and post sport treatments, as well as focussing on condition management. Some of the treatments I use are myofascial release, trigger point & neuromuscular fascilitation. I treat not only sports people, but anyone who is pre or post operative or just in need of a really good relaxing deep tissue massage.
I enjoy working closely with Chiropractors, Doctors, and Specialists to facilitate a better treatment for my patients. My interest is on the whole person which I treat accordingly. Compensation patterns that have developed over the months/years due to poor posture, injury, overuse, physiological and psychological conditions are often the result of pain, discomfort, wear and tear. Stress –related conditions both psychologically and physiologically are also major influence in society today and I have been fortunate enough to influence healing in these areas.
Whilst pregnancy is an amazing time of heightened expectation and joy, moms-to-be experience unique physical and emotional changes as a result of adjusting hormone levels, increased stress on weight-bearing joints, muscular tension and headaches – in my experience the effect of massage at this special time is hugely beneficial.
My work has led me not only into local clinics , but out on mission to rural areas in Zambia and Malawi. This has also developed in me a keen interest in empowering women to teach women the effect of ‘appropriate touch’ massage therapy not only for themselves but for HIV / AIDS and TB patients as well as for the community at large.
I have my own therapeutic massage practice from home and occasionally travel. Recently I qualified as an internationally recognised doula and am looking forward to this continuing caring ministry as a trained childbirth professional whereby I can share the gift of life with women in labour – and be part of helping to make this event a truly beautiful experience.
