Overview

Sensory Intelligence™ Consulting was established in 2003, by Annemarie Lombard, a qualified and registered occupational therapist with 18 years of extensive local and international experience in the clinical and training fields of occupational therapy.

Annemarie Lombard worked with children with developmental delays and learning difficulties for 15 years, using the theory and practice of sensory integration. As therapists we tend to focus primarily on the needs of the child and often neglect those of the parent, thereby missing the integral contribution parents make to their children's growth and development.

Workshops:

Sensory intelligence workshops for parents are committed to empower parents in an interactive, informative and powerful way. It aim towards helping parents understand themselves and their children from a sensory perspective. We are sensory beings who live in a sensory overloaded world. Due to our unique sensory profiles, we deal with daily demands in different ways, often resulting in misunderstanding, conflict and despair.

Sensory intelligence gives new meaning and understanding to behaviours we often misinterpret and supply simple, effective strategies to take parent-child relationships to the next level. It also add new insight and value when dealing with issues such as: dressing, eating, going to school, making new friends, attending birthday parties, going shopping, bath-time, bed-time, sibling rivalry, tantrums, etc.

The workshop has two parts: Sensory profiling is important to give parents the understanding, background and terminology and personalise the process. Sensory strategies are then applied for specific needs in a personal way.

Cost:

The Workshop is R995 per day and is in a series of two.
